New Releases: BRUNO GIACOSA

We are delighted to offer the latest releases from Bruno Giacosa: the modest Piedmont icon who made pioneering single vineyard wines, from both Barbaresco and Barolo.
The great man died in 2018 but since 2011 winemaking has been overseen by his protegé Dante Scaglione, together with Bruna Giacosa, daughter of Bruno. We can offer the “red label” Riserva releases: 2014 Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva and 2014 Barbaresco Asili Riserva. The white labels Asili and Falletto offer undeniably superb quality. There are no critics’ notes yet on the Barolo Falletto 2016 but excitement is building for this spellbinding vintage in Barolo: “Nebbiolo shines as never before, both in clarity and vibrancy, heralding a new era for Barolo” - Walter Speller.
"There’s impeccable transparency and freshness to this Barbaresco on the nose, which introduces bright rose petals, lifted orange peel, crushed stones and sour cherries. The stoney tannins trace intricate detail on the medium-to full-bodied palate, highlighting the racy acidity, brambly undertones and a beautiful array of wild berries. Yes, there’s power and depth of flavor, but this is all about grace and beauty. Drink from 2024."

"The aromas are so seductive with dried roses and berries. Tar and asphalt, too. Full bodied, very tight and powerful. Lean and long tannins. It goes on for so long. Stops and then starts over again. A curious and challenging young wine. Great. In the market in 2020. Better in 2026."

"Incredible aromas of violets, roses and blue fruits. So perfumed. Never smelled a wine like this before. Full body, perfectly integrated tannins and bright, vivid acidity. Extremely long and endless. A seamless and great one. An evocative wine that makes you think. Needs three to five years of bottle age on release. Unique red."
