Acquired in 1998 by Stephan von Neipperg of Saint Emilion's famous La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffeliere. This is one of the most beautiful and certainly one of the oldest Chateaux in Bordeaux dating back to the middle ages. Its name means 'needle' (pronounced "egg-oui") alludes to a rocky outcrop which it overlooks. Price-wise it has always been very reasonable at £150-£190 per case. An outstanding value wine that regularly falls into our pick of the best bargains of the vintage.
