Tasting Notes

The 2015 Haut-Bergey has turned out beautifully. Dark cherry, plum, hard candy and mint are all pushed forward. This decidedly succulent Pessac Léognan has gained considerable body, texture and complexity in barrel. Today, it is terrific.

Score: 90

The 2015 Haut-Bergey is a forward, fruit-driven wine with plenty of sweet red cherry, plum and floral notes. The succulent, open-knit style appears to be best suited to near and medium term drinking. This is an especially fruity, racy wine for the appellation.

Score: 88 - 90

This has some muscle, with dark plum and blackberry compote notes mixing with tar and licorice details. Shows brambly grip through the finish. A touch extracted, as there’s a slight plum skin edge at the very end, but should still be solid.

Score: 89 - 92

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 01 April 2016

Dense with very ripe tannins and spices. Dried fruits such as blackberries. Licorice too. Full and powerful.

Score: 92 - 93
