The second wine, the sensational 2005 Croix de Beaucaillou, is the finest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted. Sweet black raspberry and black cherry fruit aromas soar from the glass of this open-knit seductress. A dense ruby/purple color, beautiful full-bodied, lush, expansive flavors, low acidity, and sweet tannin suggest this lovely cuvee should be drunk over the next 12-13 years. It is an amazing sleeper of the vintage! Score: 91 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2008-2021 01 April 2008 |

Has an impressive nose, with wonderful aromas of currant, toasty oak and flowers. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. There's lots of new wood in the aftertaste, but also juicy fruit. The second wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Score: 91 James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2012+ 31 March 2008 |

Focused aromas of currants, berries and spices follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long, balanced finish. Excellent second wine. Score: 89 - 91 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2006 |

Produced from much lower-yielding vines than Lalande Borie. Scented, fragrant, soft, very fruity. Rather sumptuous - full and round and sweet. Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2015-2022 11 April 2006 |

The second wine of Ducru Beaucaillou, with the fruit that did not made the grade for La Croix being sold off in bulk (20%). 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The maitre de chai says that he has never before seen quality to equal the 2005 produced here. Bold on the nose with lots of thick bright fruit and hints of vanilla. Impressive in the mouth with a solid core of super-ripe fruit and touches of spice, finishing off with a well-rounded texture and good length. Score: - Albany Vintners, - 01 January 1900 |
