The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is a dense, dramatic wine with all of the textural dimension that is the signature of the Dauvissat wines. Graphite, crushed rocks, slate, candied lemon and lightly honeyed notes all grace this super-expressive Chablis. The 2017 is rich, powerful and deep, with a huge core of fruit and plenty of supporting structure. Score: 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2020-2030 01 January 2020 |

An equally restrained and cool nose is overtly floral and quite smoky with background notes of menthol, iodine, tidal pool and various white-fleshed fruit nuances. The elegant, refined and strikingly pure flavors possess a wonderful texture while delivering first-rate punch on the bitter lemon-inflected finale. Class in a glass. Score: 93 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2029+ 10 October 2019 |

The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is a bottling that debuted in 2013, and the Dauvissat family lost some 25% of their crop to hail this year. Unfurling in the glass with notes of honeyed peaches, crisp green apples, citrus oil and pastry cream, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered core that's more structured and tighter-knit than the Vaillons that preceded it, concluding with a chalky finish. Score: 93 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2027-2050 30 August 2019 |

The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is a little more exotic on the nose compared to the Vaillons with hints of peppermint and star anise enhancing the citrus aromas that gain depth and vigour with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, a tangible sense of nervous tension infusing this Chablis with a touch of lemon thyme and Japanese yuzu towards the long finish that fans out wonderfully. It represents everything you desire from a Premier Cru Chablis. Score: 93 - 95 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2024-2040 01 August 2018 |
