This dark ruby-colored wine (originally rated 93-95 in Issue #111) displays enthralling scents of candied hazelnuts, stones, fresh herbs, blackberries, blueberries, plums, and wet gravel basking in the sun. It is just as extraordinary and complex on the palate as it is aromatically, offering an awesomely intense, broad, and expansive character. This full-bodied, mouth-coating, oily-textured, and juicy yet immensely rich wine is redolent with blackberry, cassis, cedar, stone, and briery flavors. Its stunningly long finish offers copious quantities of fruit complemented by supple tannins. Drink it between 2006 and 2020+. Bravo! Score: 97 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2006-2020+ 31 August 1998 |

The profound, dark-colored Clos De La Roche is splendid - obviously one of the wines of the vintage. It explodes aromatically with scents of nuts, dark spices, black fruits, and raw and grilled meats. Exhibiting intense richness, an oily texture and complex flavors of minerals, spices, earth, and red and black berries, this chewy, full-bodied wine is built to last. It requires 7 years of cellaring, but it will hold for a dozen or more years. Bravo! Score: 93 - 95 Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2004-2016 27 June 1997 |
