Tasting Notes

Suave and intense, delicate and powerful, silky and grained. Dense forest fruits, graphite and fresh pyrazine notes of blackcurrant and tomato leaves. Heady, long and showing plenty of promise. Nominated by Markus Del Monego MW.

Score: 94

Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2023-2060 01 December 2022

The 2019 Cissac offers up aromas of plums, currants, sweet soil tones and cigar box. Medium to full-bodied, bright and concentrated, it displays fine-grained but assertive tannins, tangy acids and fine length on the finish. More polished than the chewy, frequently austere Cissac wines of yesteryear, it will nevertheless require a bit of patience.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2025 - 2050 07 April 2022

The 2019 Cissac has a nose of bright red berries nicely interwoven with hints of graphite and cedar, all very focused. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and vibrant, with fine-grained tannins and gentle grip on the graphite-tinged finish. This is a very fine Cissac to enjoy over the next decade.

Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2024 - 2040 01 February 2022

The 2019 Cissac has an attractive bouquet with ample blackberry, briary and subtle violet scents, hints of citrus fruit in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, good acidity and gentle grip with a classic graphite-infused finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a very fine Cissac that will give up to 20 years of drinking pleasure. It should end up at the top of my banded score, though I would like more personality to develop.

This is unfussy, slightly rustic with earthy tannins that opens to show sappy brambled fruits and fine balance. Enjoyable early drinker from owner Marie Vialard and technical director Laurent Saint Pasteur.

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2023-2034 12 January 2022

Pretty nose of currants, dark cherries, dried violets, cloves and pine cones. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Clean, crisp and flavorful. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink after 2023.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Maturity: 2023+ 24 December 2021

Very pretty, ripe fruit with blackberries, sweet tobacco and some chocolate. Medium to full body and round, ripe tannins. A slightly softer style.

Barrel sample. This is a refined wine, elegantly structured and already showing a fine equilibrium between fruit and tannins. Its wood aging is also beginning to smooth the fruit's vibrancy. It has great promise and long-term aging
