Ruby red colour, welcoming grilled raspberry and plum fruits, austere even after ageing, but carefully constructed, and this has charm, with cedar, cloves and sandalwood grilling to the tannins, and a lovely salted cracker uplift on the finish. Well handled. 200 years under the Barton family, so a special label that we can see now tasting in bottle. 60% new oak. Technical director François Brehant, consultant Eric Boissenot. Score: 92 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2027-2040 02 April 2024 |

The 2021 Langoa Barton is a pretty, supple wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Pliant tannins wrap around a core of red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, leather and cedar. Bright and perfumed, with lovely balance and fine, classic proportion, the 2021 is pure class. Score: 92 Antonio Galloni, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2027-2043 27 February 2024 |

The 2021 Langoa Barton comes in a specially designed, one-off, hand-drawn label and a sustainable cardboard box instead of wood, to celebrate the bicentenary of family ownership. The aromatics have actually moved up a step since I tasted it from barrel: intense blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, crushed violet and just a hint of eucalyptus. The oak is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with surprisingly plush black fruit, a suave and harmonious Langoa with a dash of spice toward the finish. This is packed full of flavor and will be difficult to resist in its youth. Score: 93 Neal Martin, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2026-2048 22 February 2024 |

More restrained than some aromatically but there’s fruit and freshness with a structure in behind. Touch of cassis as it opens. Some oak as well but should integrate. Grippy tannins on the finish. Score: 16+ James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2027-2038 06 May 2022 |

Blackberry and black olives with currants and crushed stone. Medium body, integrated tannins and a savory finish. Score: 92 - 93 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 01 May 2022 |

The first vintage vinified in the Barton family's new winery, the 2021 Langoa Barton is immensely promising, offering up aromas of cassis, cigar wrapper, loamy soil and black truffle, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless palate that's deep and complete, its vibrant core of fruit framed by ripe tannins and lively acids. It's a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times. Score: 92 - 94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 29 April 2022 |

The 2021 Château Langoa Barton (61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc) has a great, pure, medium-bodied style as well as medium-bodied richness and depth on the palate. It has good acidity, notes of violets, graphite, and tobacco, quality tannins, and a great finish. The balance here is spot on, and this is certainly an outstanding wine in the making. It's also the first vintage to be made in the new winery, which was still under construction while I was in Bordeaux. Score: 91 - 93 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com 06 February 2022 |
