Good deep red. Darker and more restrained on the nose than the Clos Saint-Jacques, offering sour cherry, menthol, licorice and a peppery nuance. Rich, thick and powerful but youthfully brooding, with dark fruit, licorice and mineral flavors showing superb definition. Wonderfully deep, sappy, soil-inflected wine with a firm tannic spine and an expanding, energetic finish. Today I find this harder to taste than the Chambertin, which is frequently the wine that's cooler and more aristocratic in the early going. Score: 95 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 March 2012 |

Deep red-ruby. Wild, reduced nose offers blackberry, game, violet and pepper, along with a pronounced flinty minerality. Powerful dark fruit and soil-driven flavors show the sunny side of the vintage in their sheer power and slightly exotic character. A very ripe, big, rather muscular wine with superb tannic force and an extremely long, slow-mounting finish. Score: 93 - 96 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 January 2011 |

This is one of my favorite wines ever. Full-bodied, with layers of silky fruit and masses of currant, mineral and berry character. Amazing. It's a wine with perfect structure, perfect strength. It's 1961 Latour in modern clothes. It's hard not to drink it now. '89/'90 Bordeaux non-blind horizontal. Best after 2008. Score: 96 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2029+ 10 January 2012 |

Fabulous aromas of currant, tobacco, mineral and cedar with licorice undertones. Muscular wine with firm yet velvety tannins. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit yet reserved and long. Wonderful balance yet plenty of strength. Extremely well-toned and long. 2000 again? Score: 92 - 94 Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2024-2049 01 May 2011 |

Very dense, very classic, very youthful. Not ready really with masses of tannin and density but great class and no austerity. Great blend of Latour minerality and 1990 ripeness. Score: 18 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2017-2030 27 January 2011 |
