The 2019 Lanessan has a more understated bouquet, albeit well-defined and fresh. A subtle marine influence merges with the black fruit scents, just a touch of undergrowth surfacing. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, plenty of concentration here, more depth and muscle than its peers, if slightly less precision on the finish. Still a very decent wine. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Score: 89 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2025-2042 01 February 2023 |

The 2019 Lanessan has a very perfumed bouquet, much more floral than I recollect from barrel, featuring vibrant black fruit and touches of licorice in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, those strong tobacco and bell pepper notes still coming through, and moderate weight. As I suggested before, I would have liked more personality on the finish, which feels a little abrupt. Score: 89 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2024-2038 01 February 2022 |

The 2019 Lanessan has a ripe, upfront nose that is missing a bit of precision: plenty of liquorice notes coming through. The palate is better with sweet black fruit laced with black pepper and tobacco. The finish is nicely proportioned. I just need to see more delineation and terroir expression once in bottle. Tasted twice with consistent notes. Score: 88 - 90 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2023+ 16 June 2020 |

The 2019 Lanessan is a powerful, deep wine. Grilled herbs, pepper, sage, mint and tobacco lend notable aromatic intensity. The Cabernet is especially marked here. Lanessan is pretty assertive in 2019. There is quite a bit of Cabernet savoriness and tannin. Score: 91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2024-2034 01 February 2022 |

The 2019 Lanessan is a powerful, savory wine marked by strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections. Grilled herbs, pepper, sage and mint add nuance to the dark tone fruit. Beautifully persistent, Lanessan is a striking Haut-Médoc with a bright future. There is plenty to look forward to. Score: 89 - 91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com 01 June 2020 |

45ha on the outskirts of St Julien, making some of the best value wines on the Médoc peninsula. This is a great 2019, really one to look out for, good value and full of blackberry and black cherry fruits, polished with muscular frame, can easily last another decade or more. Eric Boissenot consultant. Last vintage under Paz Espejo, with new director Pierre Delage overseeing the final stages of ageing and bottling. An upscore from En Primeur. Score: 93 Jane Anson, Vinous.com Maturity: 2025-2040 12 January 2022 |

Inky medium to full intensity purple colour, this is an excellent Lanessan, stuffed full of Haut-Médoc character. Really does a good job of balancing fruit tannins and acidities, without straying too far into any one territory. Cassis and bilberry are the dominant fruits, slightly rustic in the right way, and good lift through the finish. Another impressive vintage from winemaker Paz Espejo. Very deep purple-black colored, the 2019 Lanessan strides boldly out of the glass with notes of crushed blackcurrants, warm plums and cedar chest plus hints of pencil lead, bay leaves and Marmite toast. Medium bodied, the palate has a sturdy foundation of chewy, rugged tannins and loads of freshness supporting the black fruit layers, finishing savory. Score: 89 - 91 Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 18 June 2020 |

Bright and vivid with blackcurrants, dried flowers and hints of spice to the energetic fruit. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, racy tannins and a long finish. Very well done. Score: 92 - 93 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 08 June 2020 |
