Summer marked the end of the worries (frost, millerandage, coulure) and propelled the Champagne region towards harvest. The Chardonnay was picked on 4 September and the Pinot Noir on 12 September. It was a warm vintage of relatively low yields. This shows notes of lime flowers, lemon pulp, strawberry and apple, supported by crisp acidity and leading to a yellow grapefruit finish with toasted bread and smokiness. This is a phenomenal Champagne from magnum with intense aromas of crème brûlée, dried apple, dried apricot and pear. Some tropical fruit but always subtle. Full-bodied, dense and layered with beautiful fruits and a long, long finish. Wonderful fruit, limestone and white pepper aftertaste. A joy to taste.
