This bottle of the 2004 Brut Nature Rosé l'Aérienne was disgorged in January 2019, and it was still a little tight after its recent disgorgement when I tasted it at the winery, unfurling in the glass with a shy bouquet of red berries, licorice, orange rind and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, chiseled and incisive, with a taut, tensile core and a chalky finish. Tarlant’s 2004 Brut Nature Rosé L’Arienne offers striking complexity and nuance, with pretty dried rose petal, dried cherry, mint, star anise and cinnamon. At fifteen years of age, the 2004 shows the layers of flavor that are typical of Roses with bottle age, and yet it retains terrific freshness and energy. L’Arienne is built on a Chardonnay base, with dollops of still red Pinot. Score: 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2019 - 2026 01 July 2019 |
