Tasting Notes

Saline smack and a grippy slate texture from the first moments, this majors on extreme limestone signature, and took its time to soften. Today you'll find a juicy, powerful, beautifully balanced wine with silky tannins, black cherry and blackberry fruit, waves of orange peel, coffee and soft leather, hitting it out of the park. Great vintage character, will age for decades from now, love it. 100% new oak.

Owned by the Castéja family, Trottevieille has one parcel of some of the oldest vines in St.-Emilion. Dense purple, the 2005 is better at age 10 then earlier. The wine has beautiful blueberry, plum and blackcurrant fruit, an attractive underlying minerality, medium to full body, sweet tannin, and a long, layered, complex finish. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.

Good ruby-red. Sexy, spicy, slightly high-toned aromas of currant and dark chocolate. Sweet, lush and suave, offering excellent mouth coverage and conveying a strong impression of extract. Finishes impressively long, with firm tannins buried in fruit.
