Although one of the appellation’s more tannic 2004s, the tannin is beautifully balanced by sweet black currant fruit, spring flower, camphor, and licorice notes. This impeccably well-made, medium-bodied Margaux reveals a lovely integration of acidity, tannin, and wood. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following two decades. This estate appears to be performing at a high quality level over recent vintages. Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2009-2029 01 June 2007 |

Although the 2004 has closed down and appears shorter than it did last year, it reveals a fragrant bouquet of red and black fruits interwoven with truffle, coffee, spice, and cherry characteristics. It is medium-bodied and elegant, but less substantial in the finish than last year. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 12-15 years. Score: 89 - 91 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2008-2023 01 June 2006 |

Over the last fifteen years, Malescot Saint-Exupery has possessed a classic Margaux fragrance, a racy, stylish personality, beautiful purity, and a combination of both power and elegance. The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 boasts sumptuous aromas of blue fruits, black currants, a whiff of acacia flowers, and a hint of truffles. This medium-bodied Margaux possesses wonderful sweetness, excellent concentration, impeccable balance, and admirable length. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018. Score: 91 - 93 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2007-2018 30 April 2005 |

Bright ruby-red. Expressive nose offers espresso, mocha and smoked meat. Silky, suave and seamless, with a rare opulence for the year. There's a distinct sweetness to the flavors of currant and tobacco. Finishes with very fine, ripe, building tannins and a note of chocolate. Score: 90 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 May 2007 |

Interesting aromas of dried flowers and currant on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a round, caressing finish. Very balanced and stylish. Best after 2011. 9,625 cases made. Score: 90 James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2011 31 March 2007 |

Mid crimson. Round and supple on the nose though quite low key on the palate. Lots of sweetness - a little denser than stereotypical Margaux but a good drink. (16.5+ Points) Score: 16 - 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2010-2020 11 December 2006 |
