The 2015 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a gorgeous, seductive, complex bouquet of intermingled layers of red and black fruit and touches of sous-bois, sage and rose petals. The palate is finely tuned and a little oaky at the moment, though the oak will be soaked up with time. This is well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity, impressive precision and a very persistent finish that is pure joy. An outstanding Mazis from Bernstein. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Score: 96 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2022-2055 01 November 2018 |

Medium red. Deeper, musky, rather backward nose offers soil-inflected aromas of black cherry, coffee, mocha and minerals but a bit less energy and peppery lift than the Bonnes-Mares. Then wonderfully silky and thick in the mouth, and surprisingly lively and expressive considering the nose. Conveys terrific energy and peppery pungency to its flavors of dark raspberry, black cherry, licorice and crushed rock. There's a positive and very sexy wildness here that may become more pronounced with time in the cellar. Finishes with outstanding length. Score: 95 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 January 2018 |

Red-ruby color. The rather austere nose shows blacker fruits than most of the preceding samples, plus a distinctly animal character and good mineral lift. Extremely concentrated and primary in the mouth, offering terrific purity and saline minerality to the raspberry and black cherry flavors. This very juicy but youthfully tight Mazis finishes with outstanding length, its sappy red fruit and licorice flavors stimulating the salivary glands. Score: 94 - 97 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 January 2017 |

Once again there is just enough wood in evidence to remark upon on the notably ripe yet attractively fresh nose that combines notes of cassis, the sauvage, lavender and violet hints. The unctuously rich, full-bodied and lightly mineral-inflected flavors coat the palate with dry extract and buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the dusty and noticeably warm finish that is noticeable enough that some may find it intrusive.
