Andy Erickson and Annie Favia's Oakville site, set at 300m elevation due east, with the red iron rich volcanic soil of Oakville. Rich depths of flavour are seamed here, laced through with dark chocolate and cocoa bean, olive pit and creamy black cherry and damson fruits, muscular tannins that keep things rooted through the mid palate, great expansion and lift on the finish. 50% new oak, unfiltered, unfined. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville soars out of the glass. Inky dark cherry, gravel, licorice, graphite and chocolate saturate the palate. Vertical, dense and explosive, the 2021 is wonderfully deep and expressive. There's plenty of Oakville Ranch tannin, but it is so well-balanced.
