A discreet though easily perceptible application of wood sets off layered aromas of smoke, floral and petrol. The delicious and seductive, indeed even opulent, medium-bodied flavors also possess fine mid-palate volume thanks to the abundant dry extract while exhibiting good length on the clean and moderately dry finale. The 2020 Saint Aubin La Charmois 1er Cru, matured in 25% new oak and also in bottle, offers pretty green apple and citrus scents on the nose, not complex but nicely focused. The palateis well-balanced with a slightly resinous opening, fine acidity, moderate length but with fine precision. Drink over the next decade.
