Tasting Notes

The 2009 Réserve de Léoville-Barton is quite herbaceous and earthy on the nose gradually opening up with attractive iron filing and cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, taut and fresh with a pastille like finish that just needs to evolve more complexity and personality. Give it another couple of years. A very decent second wine this year.

This is plush and inviting, with warm fig sauce, plum cake and blackberry cobbler notes laced with charcoal and sweet spice. The long finish is filled with tar and tobacco, but the mouthwatering acidity makes this inviting now. Drink now through 2022.
