Tasting Notes

The 2011 Les Ormes de Pez has an impressive bouquet, beautifully defined, not intense but precise, earthy black fruit mixed with tar and freshly rolled tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. Exquisite balance, not complex, but so much freshness with the most tension revealed on the finish. This was a bit of a turn up for the books and trumped some of Saint-Estèphe's more auspicious residents. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting

Score: 92

Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2022-2036 01 September 2021

Finely expressed cassis fruit, slightly leathery and firm, good ripe middle palate and will show well. (16+ points)

Score: 16

Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2014-2022 16 April 2012

This has crunchy acidity, with herb-inflected plum, currant and cherry pit notes. Lots of aromas swirling here, with brisk length.

Score: 89 - 92

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 11 April 2012

The wine shows very pretty fruit with spices and milk chocolate. Full body, with velvety tannins and an attractive finish.

Score: 90 - 91
