This afternoon Chateau Trottevieille is releasedA sophisticated Saint Emilion, this is a well-situated vineyard on a clay-limestone slope to the east of the village.  Trottevieille has the advantage of a high proportion of old Cabernet Franc vines (average age 50 yrs), including a parcel of ancient vines over 100 years old, some of which are pre-phylloxera and amongst the oldest in Saint Emilion.  Trottevieille has been impressive since 2015 and is seriously good in 2023, with its mix of fragrant florality with dark fruit intensity.  53% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.  £338 per 6.

Also released this afternoon, Chateau Lynch Moussas - from 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot.  Alongside stablemate Chateau Batailley, this is one of the most affordable of Pauillac Classed Growths - £146 per 6.
