The 2022 Château Barde-Haut checks in as the usual blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that was brought up 50 to 60% new barrels, with the balance in once- and twice-used barrels, with a small amount in tank. Gorgeous black raspberries, blue fruits, smoky tobacco, violets, and crushed stone all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a silky, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s not far off the style of the 2020 (and 2010), and is a rocking little Saint-Emilion to enjoy over the coming 20+ years. I was blown away by the quality of the 2022 Château Barde-Haut, and this 80/20 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc does everything right in the vintage. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as stunning aromatics of cassis, spring flowers, black cherries, and truffle, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness and delivers fine-grained tannins and flawless balance. Pure, bright, and lively, yet also deep, concentrated, and textured, it's a brilliant bottle of wine in the making. Score: 96 - 98 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com 05 October 2023 |

The 2022 Barde-Haut needs time in the glass. It’s quite floral in style, with touches of blackberry and cassis, iris flower and violet. It has fine delineation. Again, the palate at first seems a little tannic, but it just requires five minutes to "loosen up" for the tannins to reveal their finer side. Graphite and crushed stone lend complexity toward the finish. It’s excellent, though again, such is the concentration that it needs time to really show what it is capable of. The 2022 Barde-Haut has a lovely bouquet with pure black cherries, boysenberry, crushed violet and dates. This is rich yet has impressive clarity. The palate is full-bodied with fine-grain tannins, gentle grip, mineralité and a precise finish. It's quite a bold Barde-Haut whose depth and density suggest it will require several years to soften, but it will be worth the wait because the finesse will bloom with bottle age. This may ultimately rest at the top of my banded score. Score: 93 - 95 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2030-2060 16 May 2023 |

The 2022 Barde-Haut is stellar. A rich, heady wine, the 2022 offers up copious blue/purplish fruit, licorice, lavender, chocolate and incense. Layered and beautifully resonant in the glass, Barde-Haut exudes class and personality. Score: 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2027 - 2042 01 January 2025 |

The 2022 Barde-Haut is gorgeous. Rich and explosive, the 2022 offers up copious notes of blueberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender, mint and licorice, with pretty jasmine overtones that add exotic beauty. The tannins here are often a bit burly, but in the 2022 much of that is softened. This is an impressive showing. Score: 94 - 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2027-2042 09 May 2023 |

Inky colour, clear floral aromatics, this is charming and enticiting, with polish and finesse. Love the confident grip of the tannins, that hold the fruit but know just when to let go and let the creamy blueberry and damson fruits expand through the plate. 55% new oak, a reduction from levels in the past, and the subtle smoked cedar character is well judged. 3.45ph, Score: 95 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Maturity: 2030-2045 11 May 2023 |

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of plums, wild berries, dark chocolate and creamy new oak, the 2022 Barde-Haut is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a taut, youthfully structured profile and youthfully firm tannins. Exhibiting attractive purity of fruit and tension, gentler extraction would have seen it score higher. Score: 91 - 93 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 28 April 2023 |

A velvety red with lovely creamy tannins, juicy fruit with black berries, spice, ink and boysenberry. Medium to full body with a solid structured and depth. Velvety texture. Hints of sea salt. Score: 94 - 95 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 13 April 2023 |
